Union-Endicott junior Ashley Cicciarelli has earned prominent space in the national high school bowling record book.

Cicciarelli’s 258-296-300 — 854 series, bowled Saturday at Midway Lanes in Vestal, is recognized by the U.S. High School Bowling Foundation as the highest three-game total ever by a scholastic female bowler.

The record-setting effort led Union-Endicott to the Section 4 Class A tournament championship with a 2,958 total.

The 300 game and 854 series qualify Cicciarelli, who will be 17 later this month, for the USHSBF’s 300/800 Honor Roll (www.ushsbf.org).

The feat also makes her eligible for singles competition in the fourth annual U.S. High School Bowling National Championships, June 23-24 in Indianapolis. Any state or national record set in the current season qualifies a team or individual for the national event.

The USHSBF’s records acknowledge only games and series bowled as part of high school competition.

The three-game boys’ record, 867, was established by John Delp III of Berks County, Pennsylvania, in 1990.
