NYS Masters and Queens Highlight Spring Tournaments

Brewster, NY – The New York Stare USBC Tournament Season is just around the corner with the first event in 2023 slated for Herrill Lanes in New Hyde Park. The tournament with then shift north heading to Liverpool, Syracuse and Rochester.

The 33rd NYS Masters Championships is on Saturday March 4, with two qualifying squads at 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM. All bowlers will roll five games across 10 lanes in the qualifying round, the top 20% in each squad will advance to match play. Match play will consist of two game single elimination matches until we have a champion. In addition to the prize money, the winner will also receive a paid entry into the 2024 USBC Masters. The pattern is a custom designed sport shot by Kegel with 41 ft and 28.4 ml of oil. A lane graph will be published after the event has concluded. Entry fee is $110.

On Saturday, April 22 the top female bowlers in the stare will head to Flamingo Bowl in Liverpool for 51st NYS Queens Championships. There are two separate division in the tournament, Open Division for bowlers averaging 200 and above, the Classified Division for bowlers averaging 199 and below. In the qualifying round, bowlers will roll five games across 10 lanes with the top bowlers from each division advancing to match play. The Match Play Round consists of one game single elimination rounds until we have four bowlers left. The final round is a stepladder final to crown a Queen in both divisions. In addition to the prize money, the winner in the Open Division will also receive a paid entry into the 2024 USBC Queens. The cost for this event is $100 with an optional $10 virtual event for women 50 years of age or older. The pattern is a custom designed challenge pattern by Kegel with 39 ft and 27.04 ml of oil. A lane graph will be published after the event has concluded.

The 86th NYS Women’s Championships will be held at AMF Strike n” Spare Lane in Syracuse. Events in this tournament consist of Four-Person team, doubles, singles and all-events. Each event is $30 per person with an optional $10 All-Events fee. All-events combines the bowlers nine game score for additional prize fund. There are no doubles only or singles only entries, the squads are combined doubles will be bowled first followed by singles.  The tournament dates are April 1-2, 14-16, 21-13 and May 19-21.

Finally, the 98th NYS Open Championships will be held at Bowl-a-Roll Lanes in Rochester. Events in this tournament consist of Five-Person team, doubles, singles and all-events. Team and Doubles events cost $45 per person, singles is $40 per person and an optional $10 All-Events fee. All-events combines the bowlers nine game score for additional prize fund. There are no doubles only or singles only entries, the squads are combined doubles will be bowled first followed by singles. The tournament dates are April 1-2, 14-16, 28-30 and May 5-7.
