New Dates and Site for 2024 NYS Women’s Tournaments

Brewster, NY – With the pending sale of Fishkill Bowl, the current owners informed the New York State USBC Office that they cannot host the 2024 Women’s Championship Tournament which was originally scheduled for April 6 – May 19, 2024.

“They (the owners) are not sure if it will still be a bowling center when they are sold,” Center Manager Andrea Dobert said. “We didn’t want you to scramble to find another center in January if the center was closing.”

The Tournament Committee reached out to other bowling centers in the area to see if they would host the Women’s Championships, but they could not work it into their schedule with such short notice. Both centers already have leagues scheduled for April which caused scheduling conflicts.

During the 2023 Queens, Association Manager Angelo Corradino was approached by Anthony Scaccia from Town & Country Lanes in Guilderland. He stated they could host the Queens Tournament and his Uncle Mike at Boulevard Bowl in Schenectady could host the Women’s Tournament.

Since two centers in close proximity are needed for these events the Tournament Committee reviewed this matter and decided to move the tournaments. “We need two centers in the same area for these events,” Angelo Corradino said. “This offered a great opportunity to move the events. Boulevard was a great host for the Open Championship following the pandemic, we know they will do a good job with the women’s tournament as well.”

Some adjustments to the schedule were needed since Boulevard is also hosting the New York State Fireman Tournament in April as well. The Women’s Championship is scheduled for the following weekends, April 6-7 12-14, 19-21; and May 17-19, 24-26, 2024. The Friday squads will be 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM, Saturday squads 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM (there will be no 10:00 squad on April 6) and Sunday squads 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

The 2024 Queens Championship will be held at Town 'N Country Lanes on Saturday, April 13, 2024 there will be two qualifying squads at 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM.

“The Capullo’s from Towne Bowling Center also offered to host the Queens if we needed a center.” Corradino added. “We do appreciate the offer and will speak to them about future events.”

Entry forms and registration forms will be available on bowlny.com after the July 4th Holiday. They will also offer online registration for both tournaments in the spring.
