Contrady Rolls His First 300 in the NYS Senior Open Championships

Wappingers Falls – Day one of the 44th Annual Senior Open Championships started out with a bang when Ron Contrady rolled his first 300 in 10:00 AM squad on Saturday, October 15. He combined with William Wiess from Lake Katrine for a 1377 with Handicap to take the lead in Division 5 (ages 55-59) Doubles.
There was a total of four squads and 178 bowlers for day one of this four-day tournament. Other top scorers were Anthony Hughes from Queens (Jamaica) rolling a 268 and 702 series and Wayne Potter from Canandaigua rolling a 254.
“We had good first day,” Angelo Corradino, NYSUSBC Association Manager said. “We had a large group from Homefield Bowl come up here to kick things off.”
Bowlers competed in Doubles, Singles and Six-Game Combine event, broken into six age groups. Prizes will be awarded in all three events. In addition, the champions in the combine event will win a paid entry into the 2023 USBC Senior Championship which will be held at The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley in Green Bay, WI from August 1st through the 4th.
There are more squads tomorrow, October 16 at 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. As well as next weekend, Saturday October 22 at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:30 PM & 4:30 PM and Sunday, October 23 at 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
