Carno Hits the Ground Running on Day 1 of the NYSUSBC Senior Open Championships

Endicott, NY – Day one of the 46th Annual New York State Senior Open Championship started out with a bang when Mike Carno from Baldwinsville rolled games of 288, 300 and 244 in route to an 832 series at Ideal Bowling Center in Endicott, NY.

This the first weekend of the two-weekend event for bowlers 50 years of age or older who members of the New York State USBC. Bowlers compete in doubles, singles and a 6-game combine event in six different age groups.

The leaders in the doubles event after day one Christopher McGilvary and Glenn Macdougall from Phoenix (NY) 1215 in Super Seniors 75 and up; Thomas Frost Sr and Marrilyn Swenson from Ithaca 1353 in Class A 70-74; Michael Kime and John Bell from Rochester 1415 in Class B 65-69; Gary Tenbra and Jeffrey Leach from Cheektowaga 1572 in Class C 60-64; Kathy VanGorden and Teri Gonzalski from Jordan 1392 in Class D 55-59; and Kenneth Smith and James Rorick from Cherry Valley 1321 in Class E 50-54.

For the Singles event Marilyn Swenson from Ithaca 692 in Super Seniors 75 and up; Leonard Dobucki from Depew 769 in Class A 70-74; David Beckwith from Poughkeepsie 666 in Class B 65-69; Mike Miller from Harriman 712 in Class C 60-64; David Gonzalski from Cicero 722 in Class D 55-69; Jeffrey Leach from Cheektowaga 740 in Class E 50-54.

Bowlers also have the option of choose a virtual six-game combine for a separate prize fund. The leaders are Swenson 1,385 in Super Seniors 75 and up; Leonard Dobucki from Cheektowaga 1426 in Class A 70-74; David Beckwith from Poughkeepsie in Class B 65-69 1356; Mike Carno from Baldwinsville 1547 in Class C 60-64; Nick DiRose from Endwell 1379 in Class D 55-59; Jeffrey Leach from Cheektowaga 1471 in Class E 50-54.

In addition to the prize money, the bowlers in the Combine Division receive a paid entry into the 2025 USBC Senior Championship on August 6-8, 2025 at Cityview Lanes in Fort Worth, Texas.
