NYS Women’s Championships
Westchester, Troy, Ithaca Teams Take Division Titles
JUNE 12, 2014 – It's official -- teams from Westchester County USBC, Troy USBC and Ithaca USBC earned divisional titles at the 78th Annual NYS Women’s Championships, which took place from April 5 through May 18 at Hoe Bowl Mardi-Bob Lanes in Poughkeepsie.
Prize checks were mailed out today (Thursday, June 12) to team captains/entry contacts. One in six entries cashed in each event.
Note to team captains and those receiving the checks in the mail: Please get them to your bowlers right away as the checks will expire after 90 days of the date of issuance -- June 12.
Event winners are as follows:
TEAM
760-and-Over Scratch -- Gals Pals (Westchester County USBC), 2,676, $1,000. Members: Jessica Aiezza, Helen Waite, Kate Gardner, Jacqueline Malone.
600-759 Handicap -- GI Women Ind 3 (Troy USBC), 2,518, $1,500. Members: Jane McIsaac, Kathleen Riley, Maureen Austin, Rita Heffern.
599-and-Under Handicap -- Ithaca 2 (Ithaca USBC), 2,525, $1,400. Members: Kathy Rumsey, Jennifer Kowal, Angela Ayers, Elline Weiner.
DOUBLES
380-and-Over Scratch – Patti TeNyenhuis and Kristina Wendell (Kingston USBC WBA), 1,536, $600. Wendell had the tournament’s lone 300 game and the tournament’s high series of 795 during the Doubles event.
300-379 Handicap – Bethanne Williams and Tricia Kisor (Finger Lakes USBC WBA), 1,411, $720.
299-and-Under Handicap – Adrienne Cross and Karen Warden-Wood (Earlville USBC), 1,344, $720.
Singles
190-and-Over Scratch – Amanda Borden (Johnstown USBC WBA), 766, $300.
150-189 Handicap – Elisha Taylor (Schenectady Scotia USBC WBA), 791, $350.
149-and-Under Handicap – Ramona Cole (Johnstown USBC WBA), 714, $380.
All-Events
190-and-Over Scratch – Liz Johnson (Greater Buffalo USBC), 2,195, $250.
150-189 Handicap -- Rita Heffern (Troy USBC), 1,972, $200.
149-and-Under Handicap -- Jennifer Kowal (Greater Buffalo USBC), $190.
The prize list this year was $84,571. Next year's tournament is scheduled for AMF Strike 'N Spare Lanes in the Syracuse suburb of Mattydale.
