35th NYS Women's Senior Singles Championships -- RESULTS

SEPTEMBER 6, 2015 – The results are official, and bowlers from six different local associations captured age classification titles at the 35th NYS Women’s Senior Singles Championships which took place on Aug. 14-16, 21-23 at Valley Bowling Center in Waverly.

Ann DeHaney (Long Island USBC), Grace Bogle (Genesee Region USBC), Carol Hess (Hudson Valley USBC), Donna Flugel (Tri-County NY USBC), Karen Brouwere (Corning USBC WBA) and Pamela Burns (Southern Tier USBC) placed first in their respective divisions ranked by their six-game totals with handicap.

The six age group champions are eligible to represent the New York State USBC at the 2016 USBC Senior Championships in Las Vegas, Nev. The NYS USBC will pay their entry fees and a portion of their expenses. If the champions elect not to participate, the same offer will be extended to the second- and/or third-place finishers.

Class AA (75-and-over) -- DeHaney placed first with 1,370, followed by Bettye Laird (Chen Del O USBC) with 1,346.

Class A (70-74) - Bogle posted 1,390 to edge Maria Carroll (Tri-County NY USBC) by 21 pins.

Class B (65-69) -- Hess took Class B (65-69) with 1,425, followed by Kathy Madore (Lowville USBC WBA) with 1,394.

Class C (60-64) -- Flugel registered 1,439, which was 108 pins better than Pamela Jones (Long Island USBC).

Class D (55-59) -- Brouwere posted 1,395, followed by Yvonne Super (Col. Greene USBC) with 1,357.

Class E (50-54) -- Burns set the pace with 1,414 – all scratch – and was followed by Theresa Dziekonski (Wayne Co. USBC WBA) with 1,390.

This year’s tournament attracted 571 entrants and generated 30 percent more in donations to charities supported by the NYS USBC over last year. The state association would like to thank the SAW Valley USBC men and women, and the management and staff at Valley Bowling Center and the Waverly High School bowling team and volunteers for a tremendous job as hosts of the event.
